Please read this Agreement carefully before using the Cobweb tool. By accessing or using the Cobweb tool, you agree to the terms and conditions of this agreement.

1) Introduction

Cobweb is an online manuscript writing aid tool intended to guide authors through the process of manuscript writing of Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) in line with the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) and its subsequent extensions.

We refer to the following terms throughout the Terms of services:
Company means the Centre d’épidémiologie Clinique, Hotel Dieu Paris
Cobweb means the CONSORT based online writing aid tool
CONSORT means Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials
User means authors who register in the tool and uses it to write a manuscript

2) General Use and Access

a) Cobweb may be used by any person that registers as a User (by providing the full name and the institution and a valid address mail), users are subject to the company ongoing right under these Terms of Service to limit or restrict access to Cobweb in its absolute discretion.
b) The User agrees to use Cobweb in accordance with any instructions provided by the Company within Cobweb at https://clinicalepidemio.fr/cobweb

3) Features & Users

a) Cobweb enables a User to draft manuscripts of Randomised controlled trials, which includes (without limitation):
i. Draft the manuscript of an RCT study online guided by several templates that include combined applicable CONSORT guidelines.
ii. Guide authors through the essential reporting recommendations presented in form of bullet points explaining each CONSORT item.
iii. Review an example of good reporting for each CONSORT item tailored to the type of study
iv. Invite co-author to review the manuscript
v. Storage & Access of the latest manuscript version.
vi. Export the latest manuscript version in WORD .docx.

b) The User shall be able use Cobweb as:
i. Main author who owns and controls the manuscript
ii. Co-author/reviewer who can leave a comment on the drafted manuscript after being invited by the main author
iii. Any other roles that could be made available via Cobweb from time-to-time

c) The manuscript owner is responsible for the conduct of the manuscript report. The Company makes no warranty that it can undo, recomplete, or otherwise rectify any error caused by any User authorised to access or work on a manuscript.

4) Support and fees

a) The Company shall provide the support services and can be reached through Contact us b) The tool is free and online, no fees are required from users.

5) Data

a) Security: The Company takes the security of Cobweb and the privacy of its Users very seriously. The User agrees that the User shall not do anything to prejudice the security or privacy of the Company’s’ systems or the information on them.
b) Transmission: The Company shall do all things reasonable to ensure that the transmission of data occurs according to accepted industry standards. It is up to the User to ensure that any transmission standards meet the Users operating and legal requirements.
c) Storage: Data that is stored by the Company shall be stored according to accepted industry standards.
d) Backup: The Company shall perform backups of its entire systems in as reasonable manner at such times and intervals as is reasonable for its business purposes. The Company does not warrant that it is able to backup or
recover specific manuscript from any period of time unless so stated in writing by the Company. e) The User agrees that:
i. The User (and not the Company) is solely responsible for the regular export of its Manuscript Data as a backup mechanism; and
ii. The Company cannot guarantee the availability of Cobweb at all times and therefore the Company cannot be liable for User not being able to access Cobweb, despite the Company’s’ efforts to ensure ongoing availability.

6) The Company accepts no liability for the content of manuscripts.


7) The User is responsible for the accuracy, quality, and legality of any content uploaded by the User, and the Users acquisition of it, and the users that create, access, and/or use their own manuscript/s.


8) The Company shall not access, use, modify or otherwise deal with the manuscript except where required by compulsion of law or upon the Users authority (such as to provide support from Cobweb)


9) Use & Availability

The User agrees that it shall only use Cobweb for legal purposes and shall not use it to engage any conduct that is unlawful, immoral, threatening, abusive or in a way that is deemed unreasonable by the Company in its discretion.
The User is solely responsible for the security of its username and password for access to Cobweb. The User shall notify the Company as soon as it becomes aware of any unauthorised access of its Cobweb account.

10) Privacy

a) The Company maintains the Privacy Policy in compliance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR )for data that it collects about the User.
b) The Privacy Policy does not apply to how a User handles personal information. It is the Users responsibility to meet the obligations of GDPR by implementing a privacy policy in accordance with law.
c) The Company makes no warranty as to the suitability of Cobweb in regards to the Users privacy obligations at law or contract, and it is the Users responsibility to determine whether Cobweb is appropriate for the Users circumstances.

11) The Cobweb website may use cookies (a small tracking code in your browser) to improve Users experience while browsing, while also sending browsing information back to the Company.

12) Liability & Indemnity

a) The User agrees that it uses Cobweb at its own risk.
b) The User acknowledges that the Company is not responsible for the conduct or activities of any user and that the Company is not liable for such under any circumstances.
c) The User agrees to indemnify the Company for any loss, damage, cost or expense that the Company may suffer or incur as a result of or in connection with the Users use of or conduct in connection with Cobweb, including any breach by the User of these Terms.
d) In no circumstances will the Company be liable for any direct, incidental, consequential or indirect damages, personal injury, death, damage to property, loss of property, loss or corruption of data, loss of profits, goodwill, bargain or opportunity, loss of anticipated savings or any other similar or analogous loss resulting from the Users access to, or use of, or inability to use Cobweb, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, negligence, in equity or any other legal theory, and whether or not the Company knew or should have known of the possibility of such damage, loss, personal injury or death, or business interruption of any type, whether in tort, contract or otherwise.

13) Termination

a) The User may terminate this Agreement by giving the Company written notice.
b) The Company may terminate this Agreement by giving the User 7 days written notice.
c) Termination of this agreement is without prejudice to and does not affect the accrued rights or remedies of any of the parties arising in any way out of this agreement up to the date of expiry or termination.

14) The company reserves the right to change these conditions from time to time, these changes have been made on our home page, and your continued use of the site will signify your acceptance of any adjustment to these terms.

Privacy Policy

Overview

The centre d’epidimiologie clinique (the company, we, us) has adopted this Privacy Policy to ensure that we have standards in place to protect the Personal Information that we collect about registered individual. The company uses collected information for the following general purposes: products and services provision, identification and authentication, services improvement, contact, and research.

We use cookies to record current session information, but do not use permanent cookies. You are required to re-login to your Cobweb account after a certain period of time has elapsed to protect you against others accidentally accessing your account contents.

Anonymity and Pseudonymity

In order for us to operate our site and interact with our customers and users, we need to know their personal details. It is not practicable for us to deal with individuals who have not identified themselves or who use a pseudonym.

Your words

Your words are yours. You retain complete rights to the words you add to Cobweb. Your latest manuscript is saved in our database for five years maximum.

Data Storage

The company uses third party vendors and hosting partners to provide the necessary hardware, software, networking, storage, and related technology required to run https://clinicalepidemio.fr/cobweb/. Although the company owns the code, databases, and all rights to the https://clinicalepidemio.fr/cobweb/ website, you retain all rights to your data.

Disclosure

The company may disclose personally identifiable information under special circumstances, such as to comply with subpoenas or when your actions violate the Terms of Service.

Data Location

If you choose to provide us with your information, you consent to the transfer and storage of that information on our servers located in the France. A backup of your manuscripts will be stored that won’t be shared with third party.

Changes

We may periodically update this policy. We will notify you about significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your Cobweb primary account holder information or by placing a prominent notice on our site.

Data protection rights

Our Company would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following: - The right to access – You have the right to request Our Company for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
- The right to rectification – You have the right to request that Our Company correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request Our Company to complete the information you believe is incomplete.
- The right to erasure – You have the right to request that Our Company erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
